Caledonia Farm - 1812 is a beautifully restored federal-style farmhouse and companion summer kitchen dependency, constructed entirely of native field stone. The hand-laid masonry is considered the finest stonework anywhere. Interior mantels and window wells were crafted by Hessian soldiers remaining after the Revolutionary War as journeymen carpenters. The flint-lock rifle used by the first owner during the Revolution hangs over one of Caledonia Farm's six working fireplaces. Architecture, history, workmanship, and setting have earned the home its recognition as a Virginia Historic Landmark and an entry on the National Register of Historic places.
The area's oldest continually owned and operated bed and breakfast offers guests the finest double beds, individual heat and A/C, working fireplaces, unmatched views, private full baths, bikes, lawn games, patio/porches.
Outstanding full breakfasts are offered from a menu with choice of time.
Guest horses need not retrailer to ride on trails in the adjacent Shenandoah National Park. Carriage rides, balloon flights, limo service, therapeutic massages, custom catering, small conferences, and hay rides can be arranged at Caledonia Farm.
Guest suite amenities include refrigerators with complimentary snacks and beverages, library, piano, and videos.
Caledonia Farm - 1812, since 1985, offers fine hospitality , accommodations, history, scenery and recreation. It was judged the number one destination in Virginia in 1992 and received the top-rated five globe award by the International Inn Society.
